Anchor Down Ultra | Toe the Line

an ultra-marathon of hardened champions

The Anchor Down Ultra, one of the “Best Races in America,” is a 24 hour race in Bristol, RI at Colt State Park. This ultra-marathon is one of the hardest ever as it takes place on a 90° and 90% humidity hot August day. With a mix of trail and pavement and the summer heat, this grueling race is known to pose a challenge to the most experienced trail runners.

Following three runners, Paul Chekal, Hanna Littlefield, and Chris Cappellini, all competing to complete the 100 mile challenge within the 24 hours. Paul Chekal has his crew chief Lory Mitchener are coming to Anchor Down for the fourth time to compete. Having completed over 33 marathons, this race is just another amazing addition to his running journey.

Hanna Littlefield, the 3rd female 100 mile distance runner at Anchor Down, is excited to run for her sixth time. However with a current leg injury, Hanna knows this race will be harder than previous years. Finally, Christ Cappellini, the men’s current course record with a record of 129.85 miles in 24 hours, is coming to Anchor Down ready and excited to complete the 100 miles once again. ADU is a community filled with compassion, teamwork, and drive to push each other to reach their goals.
